I don’t know why DALL-E can’t do Jack Nicholson while it can do Heath Ledger and other Jokers, but this image is supposed to be Tim Burton’s Joker in the Bat Cave wondering where Batman gets his wonderful toys. The good news is that the AI Apocalypse is not upon us quite yet.
I hadn’t thought of that.
In this post, Mark McGuire makes an excellent point about the value of quantum computing. I’ve worn an IT hat in a former life, and migrations can be a big deal. The larger point is that this field already offers benefits, even if they’re not yet the ones we’ve been hoping for. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Where does he get those wonderful toys?
Dr. Charles Williams is someone after my own heart by characterizing his work as playing with toys. I don’t know if he’s referring to Infleqtion’s desqtopMOT or the cold atoms inside it, but I would personally say both. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Spoiler alert!
In the most recent edition of Quantum Pirates, Sergio Gago delivers an epic spoiler. It’s subtle. It’s elegant. And I like it. In fact, it’s so subtle, that it is significantly shorter than all these words I’m using to describe it. So, be sure to read the newsletter slowly so you won’t miss it. I don’t think you will, though.
Name a more iconic trio.
Sergio Gago makes the cut again, this time while preparing his next Quantum Pirates newsletter. Honestly, I can’t even name everyone in the top trio. I think the one on the left is Kim Kardashian, but I have no idea who the other two are. In contrast, I recognize the bottom three. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Freelancers Available!
Have I used this image yet? I can’t remember either, but a better question is: have you used my freelancers yet? One is a virtual assistant, and one is a Python/C++ programmer. Thanks to the low cost of living in the Philippines, either or both can be available to you at affordable rates.
Quantum Uselessness
IBM’s claim that we are in an era of “quantum utility” is a joke, albeit not a funny one. I’ve been waiting 3 days for this job to run, and I dare ask how useful is that really? Oh, I see, it’s only useful if I ante up. But if I’m going to ante up for this specific problem, IQM is both faster and less expensive. I guess the joke is on IBM?
Tearjerker
This newsletter is supposed to be entertaining, but I’ll make an exception for this post by Jiapeng(Peng) Zhao. Well, everyone has a different sense of humor, so either you’ll find it funny or you’ll find it heartwrenching and emotional. I guess you’ll have to click to find out.
