To say you’re the best, you don’t have to believe it. Others won’t believe it either. But if you keep on saying it, you’re going to encounter people who trust you. They wouldn’t have thought it if you hadn’t said it, but if they don’t question you, you are now the best in their eyes. With enough repetition, you may even eventually believe it yourself. Negative thoughts can become self-fulfilling prophecies, but so can positive ones.

Although you may not have all the best people in the industry, you may indeed have some of them. After all, someone has to. Take Sutor Group, for example. They can say that they have one of the best tech/business leaders in quantum. It is objectively true, and don’t let The Quantum Dragon hear you say otherwise.

But how much cash and assets are we talking about? At what point does your company join the Russell 2000, S&P 500, Fortune 100, or whatever, before you must have technology that is at least among the best? Then, like any contending sports team, of course, you’re going to say you’re the best within that league.

But if you stop, who’s going to know who you are? I’m a fan of multiple startups that keep awfully quiet and have raised less money than I feel they should have. You need to be out there cheerleading yourself, raising that big money, and requesting a group subscription to The Premium Quantum Dragon.

So, good ahead. Say your daily affirmations. The Quantum Dragon needs content.

Dr. Pradyumna Gupta compared IBM’s and Google’s superconducting quantum computers to Microsoft’s Majorana 1. The problem, of course, is that Microsoft just announced Majorana 2, highlighting that Dr. Gupta’s knowledge is not fresh.

Dr. Sutor and I both curate newsletters, so we obviously consume considerable volumes of quantum-related information. We need to remember that not everyone curates newsletters, reads the newsletters, or otherwise has a burning need to stay up to date outside their immediate field. True story: I’m still rooting for Dan Marino and the Dolphins to win the Super Bowl.

Try as I may to stay current, I miss things. Where did THAT quantum computer come from? When did THAT person move to Nvidia? And that’s with me actively seeking out information. So, for someone only adjacent to quantum to be following the news closely enough to even know 3 of the top players in the field, is impressive. He knows about Willow and the septillion-year claim. He knows about Condor. He knows about Majorana 1 and the controversy that preceded it. He knows that QEC is a thing. And he didn’t write “0 and 1 at the same time,” so I dare say he’s doing better than most.

Besides, maybe it’s OUR MY fault for not getting the news in front of him? [Editor’s note: The Quantum Dragon wouldn’t let me blame his godfather.]
