"Governments will keep discoveries like that secret."

For World Quantum Day, Denis Mandich, CTO and Co-Founder at Qrypt, commented:
The timelines for cryptographic risk are now visibly and rapidly compressing, driving real momentum. Today’s reality is security in a connected ecosystem is a collective outcome. You can implement every NIST standard available, but if your critical vendors or banking partners are not moving at the same pace, the entire supply chain remains vulnerable. We have seen how fast one weak link can ripple through a whole network of commercial relationships. Quantum security raises that problem to a different scale, one we’ve never seen before. The same underlying weakness affects almost everyone today, and as Ben Franklin maybe said, “we must hang together…” or we will all feel the consequences.
Nearly every app, device, and network contains hundreds of cryptographic components, many far beyond your control or ability to upgrade. The tools for a quantum-safe architecture are ready now, and they should be applied first to high-priority infrastructure, not every widget on a 500-page spreadsheet. If your transition plan is still sitting in a slide deck, it is time to get it into production. Mythos looming, some of the hardest attacks are ahead of us. It is not Cold War hyperbole to say governments will keep discoveries like that secret as long as possible.
