IQM's Unicorn-Smelling Dragon
He can smell a unicorn from the other side of the planet.
You may have seen IQM Quantum Computers Raises over $300 Million in Series B Funding Round Led by U.S. Investor Ten Eleven Ventures with strong support from Tesi, but you may not have noticed the missing detail. To be fair, The Quantum Dragon isn’t the only one to have smelled it. You can find it here and there on social media. But for the most part, it’s missing from the conversation that this funding round raises IQM to unicorn status.
The announcement otherwise contains some ironies that The Quantum Dragon greatly appreciates:
This is the largest quantum Series B outside the US and is ironically led by a US investor.
This is the largest quantum Series B outside the US and will ironically fuel expansion in the US (among other places, but the US is name-dropped).
This is the largest quantum Series B outside the US and will ironically accelerate IQM’s roadmap to fault-tolerant quantum computing.
Okay, okay, that last one doesn’t make any sense. The key takeaway is that The Quantum Dragon welcomes quantum’s newest mythological mascot, the IQM unicorn.
