Quantum Fiery Voices: Olivier Ezratty
For Aiding and Abetting The Quantum Dragon's Relentless Assault
I was looking up something in Oliver Ezratty’s Understanding Quantum Technologies 2024, which I hadn’t done since before the inception of this award, and I had forgotten how much heat it radiates.
To be fair, much of the heat comes from simply “keeping it real,” which, with all the hype out there, generates a considerable amount of heat. That said, it also seared my cornea a few times. It’s 1,554 pages, so I’m only providing some highlights:
The word “bullshit” appears 7 times.
Page 942 describes Eigensystems’ Quokka as “somewhat useless as a dedicated hardware.”
Page 1,098 states that Automatski’s ‘quintillion qubit’ quantum annealer “smells fishy at best.”
Page 1,235 describes Knot Communications’ / Artedys’ quantum blockchain satellite phone as “a little farfetched.”
Page 1,309 classifies taglines as hype or reasonable. It’s 8 hype vs 5 reasonable.
Page 1,432 includes the phrase “crappy reports.”
“Quantum Fake Sciences” is a 22-page chapter.
For generating enough heat to make The Quantum Dragon install air conditioning in his cave, he hereby recognizes Olivier Ezratty as one of his Quantum Fiery Voices.
